Ann Burnham

Textures and Patterns

Ann Burnham’s printmaking is inspired by the rich textures and patterns of Devon’s landscapes, from rolling countryside and hedgerow-lined lanes to the winding coastal paths. Her creative process often begins with a fleeting moment—a tree shaped by the wind or a path vanishing into the horizon. These scenes are captured through sketches and photographs during her walks, later evolving into designs for her prints.

Specializing in reduction linocuts, Ann carefully plans the intricate cutting and layering of colours that define her work. Each stage of the process reflects her deep connection to the landscapes she portrays.

Her prints are widely exhibited and held in private collections, with permanent displays at Greenwich Printmakers Gallery, Wychwood Gallery, Hancock Gallery, and New Ashgate Gallery. Ann’s work continues to celebrate the beauty and character of the natural world.
