Reduction Linocut by Ann Burnham
The Road to Coleton Fishacre
Ann Burnham
Ann's work is inspired by the textures and patterns found in the landscape. She is drawn to the beauty of the rolling countryside, the narrow hedgerow lanes, and coastal paths in Devon. An idea may be sparked by the way the wind has blown a tree, or a path leading into the distance. She makes sketches and takes photos whilst walking, then develops them into a design for a print.
Ann’s prints are reduction linocuts, and she enjoys working out the cutting process of the lino for the many layers of colours that will be applied to the plate at each stage.
She exhibits regularly and has work in private collections in this country, and abroad, and permanently on display at Greenwich Printmakers Gallery, Wychwood Gallery Oxford, Bell Fine Art Winchester, Wildwood Gallery Dartmoor, Sea Pictures Gallery Suffolk, and New Ashgate Gallery Farnham. She has exhibited at Bankside RE open, Society of Woman Artists and Federation of British artists at the Mall Galleries, Affordable Art Fair Battersea and Hampstead, as well as being prize-winner in the ‘Inspired by’ competition at the V&A Museum.
