Teresa’s first career was with the Folio Society publishers where meeting such artists as Elisabeth Frink, Carel Weight and Edward Bawden inspired her to embark on a Fine Art degree at St Albans School of Art and the University of Hertfordshire. Here she met formative tutors and artists such as Sandra Blow, Paula Rego, John Hoyland, Helene Fesenmaier, Ines Amado, Graham Boyd. She graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Painting. For years the South West landscape was her inspiration and in 2006 she and her family moved from Herts to Cornwall. She has exhibited widely in Britain and abroad, and her work can be found in numerous national and international collections.

Her landscapes have their origin in real places – where water meets land, estuary and shore, boundaries and enclosures of marsh, colour in nature – and are underpinned by observational drawings. Her still life work connects landscape with objects, placement and scale being crucial. The work is also about the sensuous nature of paint that allows manipulation on the surface of board or canvas. Experimentation is vital in order to bring her emotional engagement with the subject into the physicality of the paint; collage, stitching or other ephemera are often incorporated. Her painting questions the dichotomies of figurative/abstract and decorative/narrative.
