My work, changes with each project. I am constantly, trying to get the studio, the work, and myself talking together. The natural landscape inspires my work, the palette line tone and shape are painted directly onto a surface, whether paper, plaster or canvas. Sketchbooks, photographs, and notes, made from just looking and of the sensory experience, bring knowledge to the studio, where my memory and imagination can be explored.
A favourite are the suburbs, where the built and natural environment perform and interact, nature paints its own image on the built environment. My palette changes according to the seasons, the time of day, minutes even seconds. The passage of time, appearing and moving at different speeds, some so fast they are fleeting experiences while others are changing so slowly, they appear to be frozen. My work is like trying to capture a moment, like a sundial clock, I have to hold that magic moment before the sun or the earth move on or it will be lost.
