Stratosphere Series 2024

Sarah Strachan is a transdisciplinary printmaker, painter and ceramicist based in Cambridge, UK. In her practice she senses environmental changes through deep conversations with people, place, the land and its materials. Her works explore how our perceptions of being in, knowing and belonging to the world affect our ecological awareness and thinking.

Selected as one of the top 25 emerging artists in the UK at the British Ceramic Biennial, Stoke-on-Trent (2021), Sarah is an award winning artist in ceramics (ArtNumber23 Open Contest, Greece (2020)), sculpture (Art Resilience, France (2022)), installation (Aesthetica Art Prize 2023 and 2024) and sustainability (Sustainability Art Prize, UK 2021 and 2022).

Developing from a series of works inspired by a conversation with a climate scientist, the Stratosphere series reflects on the hidden dynamics of the upper atmosphere and its affects on our
weather systems.
