Having studied and worked in glass for over 20 years, predominantly in the sand-casting process, I have recently moved to kiln casting glass, to provide a route to a more sustainable process using kilns and casting and slumping. Inspired by nature and the scientific observational approach of Botanical artists through the ages.
I find inspiration in fleeting moments within the natural world and enjoy researching and exploring these moments through the translation of texture, colour, and form. All the while using my understanding of glass to exploit the interaction of light on the “inner world” to bring movement and life to the piece. Glass is unlike any other material to work with, it is serendipitous and utterly addictive because of this, you never know what unique effects are going to be created in every piece created.
