Living life without borders and challenging preconceptions. Reconnecting with the infant mind where Dreams are not restricted by Reality.
Taking inspiration from the local environment; Woodlands, Coast & Moorland. Deep Space and concepts of Science, Psychology and Spirituality.
Fusing ancient organic textile techniques with modern digital manipulation to produce beautiful Artworks. Complex, Ethereal images which speak of connections between past, present and future. A perfect antidote to the mundane. Investigating micro and macro worlds with images taken from different scales of perspective.
Unique combination of processes starting with Macro; original textile pictures. Semi-abstract images of natural phenomena created by hand felting, embroidery & mixed media collage building up layers rich in symbolism with colour & geometric forms hidden within the picture.
Then tiny details are captured, the Micro part of the process where digital manipulation creates a new emergent image representing the conceptual nature of the original piece.
This new image is then expanded back to Macro again. Printed at high resolution onto Aluminium Sheet. Enhancing details, colours and providing incredible depth and texture. With no frame, freeing the image from the confines of a border gives a modern, contemporary feel. Art without Borders.
Also producing free-standing Acrylic Block Sculptures and "So Kat" Art Print Clothes & Home Decor.
Inspired by the ancient and magical landscape of Dartmoor; where the spirits of land and sky reveal themselves to the seekers eye. Crafted from hand dyed wool and silk fibres and wet felted to create a textile picture. This is then photographed at high resolution and printed onto an Aluminium Panel using a state of the art process which retains the textures and colour of the original piece.
