Rising Tide
Merran Coleman
Merran Coleman is an artist and illustrator from Cornwall. He has illustrated several children’s books and exhibited work across the UK. The rich history and impressive landscapes of his childhood home first inspired his work. After gaining a BA in illustration from the University of Brighton, he returned home to Cornwall. Here he has continued to research ancient Cornish history and mythology. These influences can be seen in his distinct style, creative and striking monochrome pen drawings that hearken back to a time full of memory and magic.
Clouds part as moonlight reveals catfish slipping through the fingers of an elderly human. This work was created in response to the Time and Tide Bell Project, exploring changing human relationships with wildlife under the threat of rising sea levels.
