Mixed Media by Antonia Texidor
Rhapsodic Strands
Antonia Texidor
I am a mixed media artist living in Plymouth. I was an arts teacher and arts co-ordinator. Since my retirement I have immersed myself in my artwork, joining Rhizome Artist Collective, a local group of likeminded artists, in order to gain support and feedback from other local practitioners.
There is a very experimental approach to my art practice - plenty of ‘what happens if…’ ‘perhaps I’ll try this medium….’. Learning to accept the failures without despondency and celebrate the successes.
Much of what informs my subjects stems from my passionate, almost visceral, response to the force, movement and sheer power of the natural environment that surrounds me. The sea, the cliffs and the rock formations. They evoke such awe, humility and intimidation. I am never happier than when spending hours on the beach, amongst the rocks, or on Dartmoor, lost in getting the sensation of place down on paper.
