Resonance
Angela Rimmer
Angela Rimmer is an atmospheric abstract artist based in Devon, her work channels the mystery, energy and beauty of the natural world.
With a flair for emotive colour psychology, she encourages viewers to reflect and go with the flow. Her bold, original work sparkles reflecting light and adapting to its surroundings as if alive with the rhythms of nature. Using a variety of techniques to create textured depth, she works with acrylic, ink, and gold (metal) leaf often with a variety of tools such as spatulas and rollers, blending elemental textures with luminous vibrancy. She also paints with coffee.
This vibrant, original acrylic on canvas work is a striking and expressive piece by Angela Rimmer. “Resonance” successfully conveys a sense of energy, movement, and vibrancy, making it visually captivating and full of emotional depth.
This painting feels like a celebration of family - full of love, energy, and deep connection - while also acknowledging the complexities and emotions that come with it. The contrast between the bold red flowers and the fluid, abstract background gives the sense that family is both ever-changing and deeply rooted.
Four vibrant red flowers with dark centres are set against a textured background of green and blue hues, creating a dynamic and colourful composition. The petals of the flowers are luminous, bold and expressive, encouraging light and contributing to a subtle moving effect.
The way the flowers stand out but still feel connected through the background symbolize the bond between family members - each unique but part of the same beautiful, organic whole. The warm reds might represent love, strength, and deep emotions, while the blended background could reflect the ever-changing journey of family life, with its ups and downs, yet always connected.
The poppies, carry deep symbolism - remembrance, resilience, and love - all of which can tie into family relationships. The way the red poppies contrast with the atmospheric background gives the painting a sense of depth and movement, almost like the flowers are glowing.
Typical of Angela’s work, the intuitive, abstract, impressionistic approach adds a dreamlike quality, making it feel both energetic and serene at the same time. This work alludes to Angela’s blended-family life as a new mum to teenage orphans making it an interesting original piece for Artizan Women’s Open.
