Skye Holland
Skye Holland is a Londoner, now Wiltshire-based contemporary artist. She uses mixed-media to create drawings, paintings, panel-works and prints. Her artwork is a commentary on the ever shifting human interaction with the wild and the fine equilibrium on which all living things co-exist and depend.
Skye is a Central St. Martin’s school of Art alumni and was also creatively influenced growing up by her profoundly deaf mother, a dressmaker, designer and entrepreneur. There’s a graphic edge to her artwork, as well as an interest in manipulating surface, often working in layers on thick watercolour paper e-sumi style. She also employs collage and layering techniques using Japanese papers and drawing is at the heart of all Skye’s artwork.
Her work moves between highly technical drawing to a more emotive, expressionistic and dynamic approach in her drawings, prints and paintings. She often works in series, most recent is the Fragile Earth, Icarus and Wild collections of paintings and prints.
Skye is also an experienced portrait artist of humans and animals.
Working and living in South Africa during the nineties, Skye and her young family explored exciting wild spaces and saw endangered wildlife at close quarters. This where her passion for conservation was ignited.
Skye has exhibited at exhibitions and international art fairs, often working to private commission.
Her work is represented in the MTN Art Foundation collection in South Africa.Skye is currently delivering monthly drawing workshops at Sketch, Mayfair, London W1.
Skye is a member of the Visual Artists’ Association.
