Over the Hills and Far Away
Gill Jones
I originally qualified with a B.Ed in Creative and Performing Arts which I taught for many years, later becoming a member of the Education Advisory Service helping schools develop their drama and dance curriculum. I was also co-director of the Devon Youth Theatre and founded and directed its Youth Dance Company.
I continued to paint and draw the moors and shores of North Devon when time and an enthusiasm for acting, and sailing permitted.
In 2011 I gained First Class Honours in a B.A. in Fine Art, having decided to challenge myself and explore new ideas and techniques, including film and photography. My subject matter was the human figure and the vulnerability of man. Records of this work can be found in the Women's Art Section of Goldsmith's Special Collections Library.
Currently I am working in a very free, impressionistic, and often abstract way with watercolour, acrylics and diverse printmaking techniques. I work in both 2D and 3D and also continue to work with images of the human form.
I have exhibited both locally and in London and my work can be found in local galleries.
I am an exhibiting member of the Westward Ho! & Bideford Art Society.
