Holly Magdalene Scott is an Artist/Printmaker based in Middleton in Teesdale. A self-taught printmaker specialising in relief printmaking, Holly is known for her well-observed, sensitive linocuts of birds, insects and animals. Her hand-coloured linocut prints are created without a press- printed by hand in small varied editions, imbuing each one with the unique character of it’s subject. Long since spell bound by wildlife, and conscious of it’s significance in her everyday life, Holly’s work conveys her lifelong enchantment with and reverence for the natural world. Borne from a strong connection to the land, inspired by childhood memories and chance encounters with wildlife, her hand-coloured lino prints touch upon folklore- seeking to evoke the timelessness of animal lives. Through careful observation and intricate rendering of detail, Holly’s work seeks to elevate the overlooked and highlight beauty in the familiar.
