Landscape Abstract (Near The Studio)
Nigel Waters
I am a semi-abstract seascape painter whose work is concerned with pollution, climate change and the changing geology caused by coastal erosion of the Jurassic Coast in Devon. 'Plastic Beach in 100 Years Sidmouth' Depicts a sea and beach overrun with plastic pollution that could become a reality in 100 years if we don't change our habits by recycling as much as possible. We all have a responsibility to protect the planet for the sake of future generations to be able to enjoy it. My style is semi-abstract expressionist always with a vivid use of colour and the scene loosely depicts a futuristic view of Jacobs Ladder Beach and Cliffs at Sidmouth. Many of my other paintings are inspired by scenes experienced from walking the south west coast path in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset and conducting site specific research. Including working en plein air and in the studio responding to the rapidly changing coastline affected by the climate emergency we are currently experiencing. I capture a snapshot in time through my own experiences in interacting with the landscape and nature as it currently is depicting time based transitions and rapid change as it is happening around us.Mixed Media | Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas
