These paintings were created early in my art practice, while living in Bristol, and reflect my growing concern about the environment.
I started by experimenting with various media: screen printing, drawings, painting and digital art. Ranging over a wide subject matter.
During that time, I came across a book, Spirit of Nature, by American artist Maxine Masterfield. Her work has been described as abstract naturalist and explores ideas and feelings inspired by the natural forms, colour and texture of the landscape and fauna, where she lives in California. Her work uses coloured inks, acrylic and water-based paints on paper or board, often layered or using collage, with extensive mark making. The pieces I've submitted for consideration as part of this application use some of those techniques. The blue paintings have a distinctive aquatic theme.Recipient of the English Riviera Summer Open Exhibition 2024 // Honourable Mention Award
