I have maintained a photographic practice for over 30 years and currently work from my Brixham-based Studio in Devon.
A project that began over 4 years ago, I have been collecting, pressing, and photographing locally sourced plants, and am in awe of the seemingly endless diversity of the natural world.
Taking a creative approach largely inspired by the scientific botanical collections found in museum herbaria, my practice is methodical and systematic. An almost meditative process of collecting, pressing and then photographing each of the botanical subjects creates a rhythm of order, optimism and ultimately a sense of peace.
This year however, I have started to consider the impact of climate change; some of the images have been rendered to silhouette, creating an impression of a void reflecting the potential extinction of species, and indeed nature as a whole.
