Hi-Vis Figure, Print In Yellow
Adam Garratt
Much of Adam's work is made on reclaimed building site materials or reclaimed event banners. Aswell as making editions Adam also makes large printed works that are specifically made to expand into space. The repeat process of screen printing is a labour that provides a mass & aesthetic in Adam's work that reflects his working-class background. An interest in urban & ruraban fringe spaces in addition to modernist architecture is reflected in the imagery of his prints. Concrete window surrounds on offices, blocks of flats, weather stained concrete & objects in fringe places are of particular interest. In a recent project Adam began to use hi-vis work wear as a catalyst to make work.
This recent series is printed on reclaimed event banners. The nature of these prints, on unusual material & without traditional artistic display techniques explore the value of print making while also speaking of the material & the process of printing.
Adam has a Masters degree in Contemporary Art Practice from the University of Plymouth in 2019 &has made work for several exhibitions. This year Adam had a solo exhibition called Embodied Labour at Studio KIND. in Braunton, North Devon.
