Coloured Splash Dish

Oriel takes inspiration from her surroundings on the Isles of Scilly, whether it is the azure seas, the local flora and fauna or simply the clarity of the light. Her palette is restricted by the glass manufacturers who make the raw materials for glass fusing, but her own imagination makes up for this in no small way.

 

Her work develops in a creative curve, where one idea evolves and transforms into the next. Glass, and all its diverse possibilities fuel her enthusiasm. She trained for five years at Reigate School of Art in Surrey, specialising primarily in traditional leaded stained glass and has created several windows in the churches of Scilly and Cornwall. These panels show a simplicity of design which belies the work involved, using vivid coloured glass, whilst still allowing full natural light into the church.
