Cold Snap

The works I have submitted are all made using the technique of monotype, whereby translucent inks are manipulated with roller, brush and solvents and printed in layers onto high quality paper. Each print is unique. The process of creating these images affords me the freedom and immediacy to improvise and explore the expressive potential of colour and texture.

I have taken as a starting point cues collected from the seasonal landscape of South Wales and Dartmoor. Yet these works are abstract, a synthesis of many different elements. I am particularly interested in the notion of borders, edges, and horizons.
