Sculpture by Bev Knowlden

Bev Knowlden
After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design in the 1980s, I carved out a long and satisfying career in set designing and prop-making for stop-frame animation TV shows.
I now concentrate on more artful sculpting, with portraits of humans and animals, which are often described as haunting and evocative in a curious, unusual style.
I sculpt in clay from life and photographs. These finished models are moulded and cast in various resins, often combined with materials such as jute and reclaimed metal.
As an artist, I love experimentation and exploring the limitless potential of the creative process.
This is the first one of a series of sculptures of this head, entitled 'CHILD'. I sculpted a young girl's head in clay, moulded it, and then produced this cast in iron resin.
