Centre of Attention

I'm a freelance Illustrator and exhibiting artist based in Plymouth currently studying a masters in Illustration at Plymouth College of Art.

In my short time as an Illustrator I've worked with various individuals to produce editorial illustrations to accompany pieces of creative writing, articles, poems etc, while exhibiting work across the South West.

I've always gravitated towards work that sparks curiosity in the viewer and I try to take this on board with my Illustrations, deliberately trying to hide the deeper reflections that on the surface looks fun and light-hearted but on further inspection echoes much darker subject matter.

Much of my illustration will often explore the human mind so regularly topics such as mental health, thought patterns, or certain aspects of our personality come out in what I'm illustrating. At the time of this piece I was also looking to expand further from my usual portraiture to create something a little different and from this looked into surrealism which became the inspiration for this.
