Once an occupational therapist using clay as a therapeutic tool, I have now channelled my two decades of experience into handcrafting unique sculptures and bespoke homeware in my garden studio. My creations, inspired by nature, reflect my penchant for collecting shells and pebbles on family holidays.
My creative journey begins with the sketching of organic shapes, followed by the transformation of clay into those forms using coiling and pinching techniques. Throughout the process, I respond intuitively to the evolving clay structure. My pastel sketches suggest the colour schemes, accents, and textures that infuse each piece with a fluidity reminiscent of coastline scenes and the serenity of nature from my frequent walks with my dog. My artistry breathes life into clay, making the ordinary extraordinary.
Abstract hand built sculpture inspired by Cornish and Devon coastline and seashells. Fired three times to obtain a layered texture and composition.
