I work in stoneware clay, hand building or altering wheel thrown pieces. I add texture and layers of surface decoration using slips, oxides and glazes. My work is intuitive; I let my thoughts and feelings of landscape create the form and surface decoration. Themes of touch and texture run through the work and my current series is inspired by the landscape of Dartmoor around Haytor.
I walk, look, draw and collect found plant material using it to create texture. I aim to create a narrative and resonance of place, time and season. Words in my pieces are the what3word App location of the exact inspiration for each piece (what3words is a free app where every 3-metre square of the world has been given a unique combination of three words).
