Blue Circle

I live in West Cork, Ireland and have been working in glass since 2008. I am fascinated by the qualities of glass. I have my own small glass studio in West Cork among some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery of the Atlantic coast of Ireland, and it's this - and the ever-changing light of the area - that inspires my work. I chose to work in glass because of its wonderful colours, and luminosity.

 

My practice is based on my enjoyment of the process of creating pieces that are pleasing to the eye and visually intriguing. I have taken inspiration from exhibitions, books, other artists’ work and researching different techniques. Otherwise, I am self-taught, ultimately gaining knowledge from practice, experimentation and trial and error.

 

In the past I concentrated on jewellery working predominantly with sheet glass together with dichroic glass. However more recently I started to explore glass powders and have been drawn to the wonderful versatility that glass powder presents.
