I am a hobbyist photographer but also, and mostly, an aspiring filmmaker who just finished film school. I've always been fascinated with images; they tell stories without words, they can transfigure the most mundane things and introduce us to new forms of beauty.
I was never talented in any kind of manual arts, so I naturally chose photography instead of painting or sculpting. At first, I perceived this hobby as a lazy occupation (after all it was all about waiting for something to happen, then click the shutter). But I quickly realised how hard it is to find a compelling scene or subject and capture it in a way that it makes people stop in front of your picture.
I don't know a lot about history of photography or famous photographers, they don't always inspire me. I prefer letting my subconscious be influenced by the films I watch. Cinematographers are, to me, the great visual artists of this century.
