Artificial Identity
Ian McConaghy
After a career as an architect, I set up my art practice in Bristol in 2012, to explore sculpture, painting, screen-printing, collage, drawing and writing. Early themes ranged across music, architecture, and literature, and examined the behaviour of humans in their environment. Around this time, I started work on a novel which became Neuworld. It's set in 2200 and contemplates a post-apocalyptic future, with an elite society indulging in genetic engineering and organic computers, while less fortunate survivors learn to recycle the remains of their devastated world.
These works return to an earlier theme, first explored in Bristol: Space, Time and Identity. Two works have been developed for the Riviera Winter Open. This work returns to an earlier theme, first explored in Bristol: Space, Time and Identity.
