A Quiet Afternoon

Elaine was born in Torbay and went to the local art college on Barton Road (now a housing complex) before moving to London to further her studies.

Many years of extensive travelling and study has reinforced the artists chiaroscuro approach to her eclectic subject matter, creating works of art that document how people are interacting with their own surroundings.

These paintings leave you with the feeling that someone you know has just left the room and will be back shortly, a brief captured moment in time.

This series of work from the end of 2017 and early 2018 showcasing the artist's detailed study of the still life subject

Influences are from the current British artist Mitch Griffiths as well as the great artists in history: Caravaggio and Rembrandt et al. The artist works in semi-transparent layers to create a depth to each piece of work.
