English Riviera Print Exhibition - Call for Submissions


An Exhibition of Printmaking

The English Riviera’s only dedicated exhibition for printmakers and printmaking practice. This curated exhibition welcomes printmakers globally to submit work on a selective basis to one of the UKs premier coastal resorts as part of Artizan Collectives annual cultural programme.


Additional accepted artforms include those working with print as part of a textiles and interiors practice, and 3D works incorporating print and paper such as bookbinding and handmade papers.


Opportunities

This is a selective opportunity to which any artist can submit up to a maximum of 5 unique works for a fee of £25 (a single submission option is also available for a fee of £10). You can also submit a single submission for £10. Works can be one of four types:

  • Framed for wall display

  • Unframed and unmounted for peg display

  • Unframed and unmounted for framing (handled by the gallery, supplementary £5 charge if work is accepted)

  • 3D for shelf or plinth display

Further details

  • Accepted mediums include any form of relief, intaglio or planographic printmaking (etching, lithograph, woodblock, monotype etc.), darkroom photography practice, textile and 3D works that include an element of print;

  • Excluded mediums include, traditional painting processes and digital photography;

  • Submissions of relevant 3D/sculptural work are welcomed, artists may wish to make direct enquiries about the suitability of work to info@artizangallery.co.uk;

  • “Framed” work is considered to be any work framed to exhibition standards (as outlined in the opportunity Terms and Conditions);

  • A maximum of 5 framed works can be submitted;

  • “Mounted” work is considered to be any wrapped or mounted work suitable for browser display;

  • A maximum of 5 mounted works can be submitted;

  • “Unframed and unmounted works for peg display” work is considered to be on paper, card, textile or a similar lightweight medium. You must be happy for your unframed work to be hung using wooden pegs which will be affixed to the edge of the work. Any work not meeting this criteria or unsuitable for this hanging method should be submitted under another category;

  • A maximum of 5 unframed and unmounted works can be submitted;

  • “Unframed and unmounted works for framing” framing is undertaken by the gallery in high quality glass clip frames on a plain black or white backing and unmounted. Works must be suitable for framing in this method and should fall into one of three size categories: Less than A4; A4-A3; A3-A2. Any work not meeting this criteria or unsuitable for this hanging method should be submitted under another category;

  • A maximum of 5 unframed and unmounted works can be submitted;

  • There are no restrictions on work dimensions other than those expressed where framing is to be handled by the gallery;

  • Multiple editions of a work can be provided for sale, these should be provided adequately protected in a portfolio case or other suitable method;

  • The form will take around 15 minutes to complete provided you have full work details (titles, dimensions, edition numbers, prices, medium) and an artist statement accessible;

  • Please review all submission details carefully;

  • Due to the nature of the venue we cannot accept work considered to be overtly graphic in the representation of violence, sexuality or other potentially offensive material; decisions with regards to the nature of this content is made by the curators and is final. Dates

  • Submission Deadline: Midnight February 16th

  • Confirmation of Success: Midnight February 18th

  • Exhibition Start Date: 5th March

  • Exhibition End Date: 10th April

  • Delivery of Work: Work can be delivered any time after confirmation of acceptance with a final deadline of 4pm 27th February

  • Collection of Unsold Work: A collection schedule will be confirmed for end of April following the close of the exhibition.

  • Launch Day Event: Saturday 4th March, 18:00-20:00

  • Opening Hours: It may be necessary for our opening hours to adjust between now and the exhibition, but we intend to open weekends and 3 week days (5 days/week) 11:00-17:00

Artizan Collective CIC

Artizan Collective CIC is a non-profit social enterprise supported by Artizan Gallery established in 2019 to take advantage of opportunities to access prominent but vacant retail and commercial buildings on behalf of the arts. In these spaces, they deliver professional curated exhibitions opportunities for the benefit of practitioners and audiences, as well as valuable programmes that promote community arts engagement.


They currently hold a venue at the heart of the English Riviera, situated near the Torquay harbourside and benefitting from prominent positioning, easy accessibility and high footfall, and have developed the space into a welcoming arts space. From here they host an annual programme of open exhibitions and showcases, welcoming professional and award-winning creatives in various fields as well as emerging talent, to exhibit under one roof, whilst promoting the wider cultural offer of this premier seaside resort.
