Celebrating a Creative Paignton

The Great Paignton Paint Out took place at the end of September 2023, a weekend of outdoor art inspired by plein air tradition, that with the help of ten professional artists, took over the streets and seafront to show off Paignton as a creative town like you’d never seen it before!

We are delighted to be bringing our second legacy exhibition to the Projection Room in Paignton where we will be showcasing some of the art that was created by you all during this incredible community event.

Come and meet local artist Claire Jo Harmer as she develops works for 'Picturesque Torbay' with a Paignton focus. The composition wills feature the English Riviera Geopark from the spectacular views from residential areas around Paignton.

'I always find that the experience of painting and print making outdoors can be insightful, especially
when dealing with the challenges that weather can present! For me it's not just about capturing the scene but also adapting to changing conditions. The influence of weather and helps to record not just the visual aspect of the scene but also the mood and atmosphere, creating a more immersive
experience for both the artist and the viewer.'
