About the event

In the run up to Christmas we'll be giving you one last chance to enjoy the English Riviera Winter Open Exhibition by joining us for late night shopping every night at Fleet Walk Shopping Centre, Torquay.

In addition to our usual 11:00-17:00 opening, we'll be welcoming you all for a drink and a mince pie until 20:00 every day running up to Christmas Eve.

No need to RSVP, just turn up and enjoy the evening with us as we celebrate the holidays.

English Riviera Winter Open Exhibition

The English Riviera Winter Open Exhibition is back once again for the festive season, and a visit to this annual showcase of South Devon fine art is now a staple Christmas tradition for collectors and enthusiasts in the region.

Running for six weeks right up until Christmas Eve, this year's collection includes works from South West Academicians and Devon selectees from the 2021 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, as well as a stunningly curated selection of handmade ceramics and sculptural work from the English Riviera.

“We've had a great return to our programme this year thanks to the incredible support of artists and audiences, with our last open show, The English Riviera Summer Open Exhibition, the closest we've felt to "normal" since before the pandemic. With this in mind, we're looking to keep the momentum going with another great Winter Open show to celebrate the holiday season.” Julie Brandon, Artizan Gallery

Despite being interrupted by the pandemic, last year’s Winter Open show was a big success for participating artists.

Like lots of other activity, the exhibition was taken online for audiences to enjoy and as part of this activity, Artizan launched their own contribution to the international #ArtistSupportPledge campaign, which saw them reinvest proceeds from sales back into the work of local artists.

For this year’s exhibition, the gallery is continuing with this pledge with 10% of all sales being reinvested into participating artists’ work. And with 80 artists all working in unique styles, and more than 300 pieces to choose from, audiences can make their festive purchases go further when they support the scheme.

Stay safe with us this Christmas

As a reminder, do bring a mask and wear it if you are able to and consider regular lateral flow testing to help keep yourself, friends and communities safe during the festive season.
