Emmy Palmer

Inspired by Sea and Moor

Emmy Palmer moved to Plymouth in 2004 to attend The Plymouth College of Art and she instantly fell in love with the waterfront City. Living in Plymouth, surrounded by the sea and the moors, Emmy finds that she is never short of inspiration. The wonderful local kaleidoscope of colour in the native plants and the coast is evident in her work.

Whilst at college in 2006 Emmy won a scholarship award with Teign Valley Glass studio in Bovey Tracey and has continued a working relationship with them ever since. Emmy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Applied Arts in 2007 specialising in glass. It was during her degree that Emmy started to combine knitting with glass in different ways and was really taken by combining knitted metals with blown glass and has been refining the technique ever since.

After taking some time out from the glass world to concentrate on her young family, Emmy returned to glass in 2021 by appearing on Dom Chania’s pilot BBC series “Make It At Market” where she was mentored by an expert glass maker. Her business has since gone from strength to strength.
